About me

Hi and welcome to my blog! My name is Cadie and I’m a Youtube beauty guru focusing on natural beauty products. I also have a degree in biology- fancy that! I’ve been making videos since 2008 and have found that there is a huge desire for more natural, chemical-free beauty products, so I try lots ‘o products and give reviews and demonstrations of what I find! Not gonna lie, it’s a fun gig! I’m also a student at the Nutrition Therapy Institute where I’m studying holistic nutrition. I have a huge hunger (pun intended) to learn as much as I can about preventing disease and creating a vibrant lifestyle through healthy eating, a positive attitude, and savoring simple pleasures. I’ve been inspired by books such as The Beauty Detox Solution and documentaries like Forks Over Knives and Food Matters.

Why is this blog called “My Green Gypsy,” you ask? When thinking about the direction for this blog, I wanted to incorporate all of my passions: healthy living, beauty products, and simple pleasures. In my life, something that encompasses the joy of healthy living is my beloved beach cruiser bike. It just so happens that my bike’s model name is gypsy, and she’s green. Green also represents the natural, earth-friendly, and organic focus of my blog; and gypsy symbolizes the traveling/search aspect of finding the best products. So there you have it!

    Dear Cadie,
first of all I would like to congratulate for the new blog you’ve just started. It’s beautiful:)And by the way,the day you started it is also my birthday,so I had to send you this comment.
I followed you on You Tube and I already told you(there) that I am a huge fan!
And now when I saw your blog and your story behind it,it was just like I was listening to myself, because my personal story and interests are exactly the same like yours.I am a pharmacist but in a search for a natural, holistic approach to the health. And this month I started the school for homeopathy and I’m soooo happy because I’m finally on the way of finding my “mission”:)Maybe one day I’ll start similar blog in my country.
That’s why I want to send you my best regards and wish you all the best in your work.Keep this good energy!I send you mine from across the Atlantic ocean!

      Hi Natasha!
Thank you so much for the heartfelt comment. Seems like we have a lot in common- you being a pharmacist and now wanting to focus on a more holistic approach to health. I love that! Congrats on starting school for homeopathy- that is so exciting. You’ll have to share with me what you’re learning! 🙂

      Take care,
      Cadie

Congrats on your new blog. I have been following your videos on you tube, stumbled upon one while looking for reviews on a product I was interested in and have been watching ever since. You have really educated me on natural and organic products. I’m glad to see you now have a new blog, Good luck with your new studies, and enjoy!

Thanks, Tammy! I’m so glad I was able to teach you something…I hope this blog serves as another venue for me to share what I’m learning and get ideas from readers, too! Take care. 🙂

I just wanted to say that in the last few months, I’ve become a fan of your’s. Obviously, I like your tips on beauty. Your video on the coconut oil skin treatment really drew me in. But I think most of all, you probably have the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen.
    OK, creepiness over. I promise.

    Hi Cadie,

I just found your blog. I have been following you on You Tube for a long time (since I found your coconut oil video a few years ago) and have been interested in hearing more from you. I’m also very much into health and natural living, so I love what you have to say. I hope you will update often and teach us what you’re learning in school!

    Thanks!

    Kim

    • My Green Gypsy says:

Thanks for writing, Kim! I’ve been bad (and crazy busy with school and work!) and haven’t posted anything in awhile. Thanks for giving me a little boost of motivation! I really appreciate you following me for all these years and for taking the time to comment. xoxo

I absolutely adore your site and your spunky attitude Cadie, and have already subscribed to your YouTube channel and linked your site on my webpage’s links page. I look forward to keeping in touch and watching more of your beauty recommendations videos. I’m also fascinated with your plans to keep chickens. We have neighbors that have chickens, and they absolutely love it. I love going over to their house to see the chickens and their organic garden. Anyway, it’s very nice to “meet” you here online. I look forward to keeping in touch.

    • My Green Gypsy says:

Thanks for writing, Michelle! Are you thinking about raising chickens as well? It definitely seems to be a popular thing nowadays, which I think is awesome! A friend of mine recently got new chicks…I need to go visit them and get a feel for what it’s like to raise them. I’m planning on getting started next spring. It was great to meet you, and I look forward to connecting with you. Thanks for checking out my Youtube channel too!

I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering if you knew where
I might possibly download a captcha plugin for my comment form?
I’m using the same blog system as you and I’m having difficulty getting one?

Hi Cadie…I love you’re very informative natural cosmetic videos on you tube. I too love to use natural cruelty free skin care products and household cleaning products and have often ordered from vitacost..I was wondering why you haven’t made any new videos in such a long time and can you in the near future..I have gotten to the point that I prefer to watch reviews before I buy..I like you’re blog by the way..I find so many people on youtube product review videos hard to watch because the tend to ramble on but you are so to the point and articulate..please let me know if you have anything new coming up…thanks, christine

    • My Green Gypsy says:

Hi Christine! Thanks for the comment and for watching my videos and visiting the blog. I know…I’m a bad Youtuber! 🙂 I plan on posting an *update* video very soon because there has been a lot going on in my life the past year. I need to do a video just to explain! 🙂 I have my some big announcements to make and then I’ll be back to posting videos more regularly. See you soon!

yay! your back, hi cadie..just finished watching your videos. thanks for responding to my email so fast back in December..that same day! when you said you planned on doing an update video because you had alot going on, I had a feeling it was a wedding. congratulations on your marriage and united family of pets..you look great and very happy! you have such a positive and upbeat vibe about you. I admire you for wanting to have positive impact on peoples lives and you do! I’m one of them. you inspire me to want to live a healthier lifestyle and take better care of myself, so thank you for that..you are perfect example of becoming what you want to teach others. I think sometimes people try to accomplish that from the wrong direction..they don’t live by their words in their teachings to others..wow! you have so much going on in your life..you look in such good health..which brings me to some questions I have for you, in your video you talked about the trader joe shampoo, where can I buy that and do you know of other really good volumizing shampoos. I have such fine hair and not alot of it either..also do you or have you used teeth whitener that is affordable and with good results, maybe a home remedy or store bought? appreciate it! have you ever tried the Aubrey organics luminesse eye serum, it’s so comforting to the skin and diminishes dark circles so quickly, the effect lasts long after, if you stopped using it. love it! great to see you back and I look forward to more videos..thanks, christine

Hi Christine! Thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate your kind comments. I am definitely trying to do exactly what you say….becoming the person I want to be. I’m passionate about health and wellness and want to help others, so I’m making some changes in my life in order to do just that. 🙂

Regarding the Trader Joe’s shampoo…if you don’t have a Trader Joe’s near you, you can order on Amazon, although it’s more expensive. There are some other shampoos from Acure Organics, Desert Essence, and JASON that are really great, too…so don’t worry if you can’t find the TJ’s one!

I don’t have much experience with teeth whiteners, so I can’t speak to that. I have heard about people using activated charcoal powder as a healthy way of whitening teeth, but I’ve never tried it myself.

I haven’t tried the Aubrey Organics eye serum…I have to take a look!

oh and cadie, I almost forgot I am trying to eliminate soda completely, but I am having a hard time finding something that will give me an energy boost other than caffeine, which makes my joints ache..any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..thanks, christine

    • My Green Gypsy says:

Hi there…I think this could be a matter of your overall diet. If you have a healthy thyroid, metabolism, and are eating good real foods, you should have good steady energy levels and not require a “boost.” But sometimes no matter how healthy we are, we need a little extra energy at times. 🙂 You may be dehydrated or mineral deficient, so maybe try some cold water with a bit of cucumber or lemon in it and a pinch of Himalayan salt. Your blood sugar may also be dipping too low throughout the day, making you feel tired. Have you had your blood sugar checked? Maca root (you can buy it as a powder…I like the Navitas Naturals brand) is also a great addition to smoothies and naturally provides energy and stamina. Sorry for the long response…this can be a complex matter and it’s tough to give advice without knowing your complete health history. 🙂

  10. christine says:

thanks! I will check out those shampoos..did you see my other question about the soda/caffeine replacement..one more, my last one I promise..what is the difference between organic and cage free eggs? I read recently that we should eat the cage free. I did try them and did not feel that icky feeling I usually do after eating regular white eggs. it has been along time since eating eggs because of that. so I will continue with the cage free from now on..thanks, christine
