EOS Shave Cream in Lavender Jasmine- Is it a smooth move?

A few months ago I reviewed the spherical lip balm by EOS: Evolution of Smooth. When I purchased the product from Walgreen’s, I also picked up the shave cream.  I went with the Lavender Jasmine formula because I liked the purple bottle and it smelled feminine and delicate.  I just finished the bottle, so I’ve had a fair amount of time to try it out and develop an opinion.  Will I purchase it again? No.  Here’s why:

* Packaging.  Although the purple bottle is cute and has a slight rubbery feeling that makes it easier to hold in the shower, there are other less-than-desirable attributes to the packaging.  First of all, the pump itself doesn’t extend far enough past the bottle, so pumping the product is cumbersome.  I found myself having to hold the bottle in one hand, tilt it forward, pump with my thumb, and catch the product in the other hand.  It was messy and I wasted product on several occasions as it dribbled down the side of the bottle.  Secondly, the packaging itself wastes a lot of product.  When I got to the end of the bottle, I could tell there was still plenty of product, but the pump came up dry.  So, I ended up having to pull the pump out of the bottle, turn the bottle upside down, and bang on it to dump product into my hand.  In the end, I got so frustrated, I just rinsed out the rest of the product that was stuck to the sides of the bottle, and recycled it.

* Ingredients.  I should have read the ingredients more thoroughly before purchasing, because I mistakenly assumed that since the lip balm used organic ingredients and is 100% natural, that this product would also be natural.  Unfortunately, it contains petroleum by-products, triethanolamine, and propylene glycol, all of which are nasty for your body and for the environment.

* User experience.  Because the product contains mineral oil and shea butter, my legs did feel very smooth and moisturized after shaving, which was nice.  However, during the shaving process, the product didn’t provide enough glide. I felt the razor skipping and making that horrible squeaking noise that happens when the blade doesn’t make smooth contact with your skin.

I normally just use a bar of super mosturizing soap to shave my legs…..what do you use? Comment below.

I use Kiss My Face Moisture Shave and I love it! It’s natural, super creamy and cost effective ($5-6 per 11 oz). I use the Fragrance-Free but it comes in many other natural scents (via essential oils).
